Dias (in)versos

The graphic project for the book "Dias (inversos)" (Inverse Days) had its core as the poetry of independent author Davi Holz. The central objective was to transform this rich verbal language into a unique visual experience through the pages of this book of poems.

A profound immersion into the content was central to capturing the essence of the poetry, achieving an ideal selection and order of the content to build a narrative aligned with the author's vision. Through this deep analysis, the duality that permeated through the piece resonated and became the fundamental pillar of the project.

The visual identity was carefully idealized to ensure that the graphic elements would align harmoniously with the poetic content and the concept of duality built from it, which is why only black and white were used.

The use of illustrations played a fundamental role, transforming words into images that enrich the reader's experience. A grotesque style, hatching, and the use of symbolism were choices made in collaboration with the author.

We conceived a different reading experience: the book can be read from both, front and back, and in the middle the reader must flip it over to continue, reinforcing the idea of duality and social difference that the author provokes.

The greatest challenge faced through this project was translating verbal language into visual language while maintaining coherence between the content and design. To achieve this, we used the concept of "design in reverse," an approach that reverses the traditional design process, and a thorough analysis of the product (the poems) was conducted to guide the graphic project appropriately.

With impressive results, not only did it bring Davi Holz's poetry to life in a new and exciting way, but also highlighted the importance of design in constructing dialogue and narratives that have a significant impact on society. For us, throughout the project, the book Dias (in)versos became not just a collection of poems; but a work of art and design that connects the written word to sight, creating an experience that reaches the minds and hearts of readers.
